Personal Work - Faces of Egypt
Egypt has been on my bucket-list for as long as I can remember, and recently I got to firmly cross it off. During two weeks of adventures on the Nile and the Red Sea, the people of Egypt (and the country as a whole) never failed to disappoint.
I have so many amazing images to share from my time spent in this desert oasis, that I think this will be the first of two or three galleries to come.
For now though, enjoy some of my favorite faces from Egypt.

Zero Emission, Double-Decker, Electric Buses
The world's first delivery of pure electric double decker tourist buses!
I get nerdy about this kind of stuff, so you’ll have to humor me. I was surprised to learn that a double decker coach Electric Vehicle even existed, I was chuffed to also learn that there are other fleets of electric busses across the US, (although they’re not Double deckers) but still a huge step in the right direction. [faith in humanity partially restored]
Take a look at some of the images I shot at Compass Transportation showing off these amazing vehicles.
The very memorably named “C10MS” is an electric double decker and is positioned as a luxury tourist bus. It has a range of 235 miles (about 378 kilometers) on a single charge, has 71 seats and is equipped with a restroom. They are also extremely quiet with the only sound being that from the tires and the whir of it’s electric motors. This fleet of 10 busses will serve Biotech firm Genentech and help their employees with their daily commute to and from San Francisco.
This is the first time that manufacturer BYD had delivered the C10MS globally and I hope it will the first of many, many more to come.
Getting Personal with "Americas 3rd Coast" - New Personal Work from the Great Lakes

In December of 2018 TransDev commissioned me to shoot the Marketing images of the Hudson Link, their new service that takes commuters back and forth across the Tappan Zee Bridge (Now the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge).
On Monday, October 29 2018, local commuters were given access to a new enhanced bus service, Hudson Link. Transdev is operating the service utilizing state-of-the-art buses to take commuters to Metro-North train stations in Tarrytown or White Plains, both in Westchester.
Despite the weather turning very cold on us we managed to create really great images during our day riding the bus!

My image in Professor Stephen Hawking's Last Book.
Professor Stephen Hawking's last book Brief answers to Big Questions
The late Stephen Hawking did not believe in an afterlife, but he has one anyway!
His last book Brief Answers to Big Questions is one of his last projects, completed for him after he died.
I was thrilled to be asked if my image could be in this book.
National Geographic with Veritasium's Derek Muller
Zero Gravity Corporation and National Geographic commissioned myself and Derek Muller from the YouTube channel “Veritasium” to create a peice on “The Challenges of Living in Low Gravity”.
Derek was an absolute pleasure to work with and his channel is amazing (I’m a subscriber, and yes it’s an awesome channel…you should subscribe if you like science).

Actor Andy Garcia for Solis Healthcare
In early September 2018 I had the pleasure of photographing Cuban American actor and director Andy Garcia in his home town of Miami for Solis Health Plans.
Making this job a true pleasure was working with the amazing crew of Dark Light Pictures as, under the direction of Andy Garcia, myself and the Dark Light Team we shot the TV commercial and the print campaign in tandem.
“I believe we have a responsibility in taking care of our community," shared Andy Garcia. "Specifically, the generation that took care of us. SOLIS is committed to this responsibility and to serving its plan members with compassion and respect.”

Aerogel Technologies, Germany Tour 2018!
I had a blast during a whistle-stop tour of Germany as I shot for Aerogel Technologies and Advapor at the 2018 Aerogel conference and summer school in Hamburg and Koln.
Shooting stills and video for both companies for advertising, social media and marketing I made a ton of great content. It was really interesting working at the DLR/German Aerospace Center (Germany’s NASA).
Also..
Do NOT accidentally burst a bag of super insulating Aerogel materials in the car, it doesn’t look good!
Oh and it was Octoberfest :) opps!!!
Oh dear, time to get the shop vac!
KELLOGG'S Australia Campaign in Zero Gravity
How far will Aussies go for irresistibly tasty granola? Well, take a look at this Kellogg’s Campaign video I shot for their Kelloggs Crunchy Nut Granola. They brought a group into Zero Gravity and had them eat Crunchy Nut granola while floating!
Me, one of the Faces of PPA!

Window seat time-lapse
Here's some fun time-lapse shot through the window during a parabolic flight in Las Vegas. Look for the random frame of a flyer towards the end when the phone floated up and pointed back into the cabin!
Also someone floated over and kicked the phone towards the end of the flight, beware of low-floating objects!
Zero Gravity Summer
Zero Gravity
Summer 2018
The Zero Gravity Corp. have had a very busy summer which translates to many fun days shooting for me! On one of the flights we had Daniel Barry, an American engineer, scientist, and NASA astronaut. He shows off his floating skills in one of the images, leaving other flyers in his wake as he does a Superman through the cabin.
Here's a smattering of my favorites images from the flights in Florida, New York, Washington DC and Las Vegas.
Reef Dive for Kimpton Hotels

In June 2018 I was tasked with creating a new series of custom photography for The Kimpton Anglers Hotel South Beach. The Anglers has sponsored a very successful reef restoration project, run by the University of Miami, School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (UMSMAS).
The coral nursery in Biscayne National Park near Miami, Florida where UMSMAS replenishes wild populations of corals has seen a 92% survival of all out-planted corals. The vivid colors of a healthy reef return to Biscayne National Park once again!
Thanks go to the team at the Anglers Hotel, Blue Whale, UMSMAS, Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center and Rescue a Reef
Autonomous Electric Vehicles

On a stormy humid day in May 2018, I went to the Southwest of Florida for Transdev. Transdev is a global company specializing in mobility solutions and they operate the first autonomous, on-demand shuttle network in North America at Babcock Ranch, a new town under construction in Southwest Florida.
The approach I took was to capture the vehicles in action during regular operations with models hoping on and off the bus amongst the towns residents. Transdev Marketing Manager Christopher Aiello did a fantastic job of cajoling volunteers!
I love this kind of project where you have to think on your feet. I am happy to have helped in a small way towards Transdev's goal of "reducing or eliminating the reliance on vehicle ownership and use while lowering the environmental impact of transit through sustainable alternatives"
Disney Resorts
Along with Mosquito Productions in Orlando Florida myself and John Graham shot photography and 360 VR Images for Disney.
The best thing about a 2am call time? Being finished at 10am!
Thank you to all the team at Disney and Mosquito Productions for all your help.

Social-media influencers for the University of Miami.
Zoey Chen
I had a great time photographing a campaign on social-media influencers for the University of Miami. The shoot was over the course of one day on the business school campus. It was an absolute pleasure working with the UM team as always.

MIT in Zero Gravity
Late in 2017 The The Zero Gravity Corporation commissioned me to photograph a zero gravity research flight for MIT Media Lab. Their goal: "spend 90 minutes studying the effects of a zero-gravity environment on research ranging from asteroid grappling, to self-assembling space architecture, to music and performance, to sensory and emotional responses. This was the Space Exploration initiative's inaugural research deployment, and a first step toward realizing the initiative's goal of democratizing access to space." Full Article...
Fortunately, I get to play astronaut in Zero Gravity fairly often and I want to share some of the impressive concepts and ideas that I documented on the research flight. Faith in Humanity fully restored!
Orbit Weaver Suit
The Orbit Weaver Suit for zero gravity was designed by Media Lab Director's Fellow Andrea Lauer in collaboration with Xin Liu.
The design was inspired by a drawing Jordan Piantedosi made for Xin Liu, in which she is in a suit and casting strings out into space. The drawing is a reference to Orbit Weaver, a performance piece Xin created to test in a zero-gravity environment in November 2017.
Sequencing DNA in Lunar and Martian Gravity
Maria Zuber and postdoc Noelle Bryan had an EAPS experiment aboard as well, developed with colleague Christopher E. Carr. They were the first group ever to sequence DNA at lunar and Martian gravity, and are now developing a life detection device that they hope to send to Mars one day. The experiment was a great success, reports Bryan, and they're writing up the results for peer review.

VR Maze in Zero Gravity
"The brain uses space to index, organize, and retrieve memories. However, our sense of space depends on our perception of gravity". MIT Research Assistant, Neo (Mostafa) Mohsenvand tests the effect of altering gravity on human memory with a virtual reality experience that exposes the user to a sequence of small random mazes under different gravitational conditions.

The Telemetron
Today, the environments that humans occupy in space are designed for survival. Humans are carefully shuttled to and from space, and during their relatively short stays, they are provided with minimum supplies to remain alive and able to perform experiments. As we begin to plan less for short visits and more for life in space (such as a six to eight month trip to Mars and beyond) the question becomes: What does human culture look like in space?
Nicole L'Huillier and Sands Fish decided to explore how design and creativity might evolve as we begin to do more than merely survive in space. The Telemetron is a unique mode of musical performance that takes advantage of the poetics of zero gravity, and opens a new field of musical creativity. The project attempts to expand expression beyond the limits of earth-based instruments and performers. Leveraging sensors, data transmission and capture (for performance after flight), as well as their experience as composers and performers, Sands and Nicole explore a new body language for music.
The Telemetron was played for the first time during the inaugural Media Lab Space Exploration Initiative's Zero G flight. This instrument is a clear dodecahedron chamber that contains customized "chimes" containing gyroscopes. The chimes emit their telemetry as they spin and collide. Sensors record the position, direction, and spin of each chime. These elements create the composition. The performers play the instrument by moving it in space, shaking it, colliding it. The performance can be recorded to be experienced on earth or used as a live instrument during future space flights. The instrument can be played inside space craft or in the vacuum of space without the benefit of sound waves.
Recorded as a beautiful audio-visual experience, this experiment opens the doors for new forms of creative expression, and brings the magic of space to musicians. We hope to reach beyond the utilitarian, and toward the inspiring.
